From July 19 to September 7, our company's ceramic board reproduction of Pablo Picasso's “Guernica” is on display at the special exhibition “From Goya to Picasso, and then to Nagasaki: War in the Eyes of Artists” held at the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum held this exhibition themed around war this year, which also marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. As an art museum located in the bombed city of Nagasaki, the exhibition focuses not only on the atomic bomb itself but also on the war that caused it. Centered on Francisco de Goya's print series “The Disasters of War” from the museum's collection, the exhibition explores themes derived from this work. Otsuka Omi Ceramics and the Otsuka Museum of Art supported this exhibition, leading to the display of a full-size ceramic board reproduction of “Guernica” in the entrance lobby.
By exhibiting “Guernica”, which continues to send a powerful message as a symbol of anti-war and peace even after all this time, we hope to imprint the exhibition's purpose more vividly in people's minds and provide an opportunity for many to reflect once again on “peace.”
