Ceramic Board Reproduction, Ancient Remains of Mizuki Fortress is on Exhibit

From the first day of the year 2015, our ceramic board reproduction is on exhibit in the special exhibition, “the Age of Dramatic Interaction in East Asia: Between Ancient Japan and Baekje” (held at Kyushu National Museum).

For the 1350th anniversary of the construction of Mizuki, Onojo and Kiijo fortresses, this exhibition introduces about interaction between ancient Japan and Baekje, through treasures of King of Baekje and Buddhist art, also the artifacts from excavations telling about upheaval period of East Asia.
Mizuki is the first Japanese fortress which consists of mounds and moats commanded by the government, under the supervision of engineers from Baekje. This time, the ceramic board reproduction of a part of a cross section of the mound is exhibited.
Viewers can appreciate the texture of the ceramic board which represents condition of the mound such surface and color tones at first hand.

At the same time, you can see the ceramic board’s reproduction of Kitora Tomb Stone Chamber (only South wall: Vermilion Bird and North wall: Black Tortoise) in its actual size in the special exhibition, “Excavation of Japanese Archipelago 2014” at the same venue.
