Jomon Vessel with flame-style ornamentation no.1 (national treasure) was reproduced in December 2016
utilized 3-D measuring data which was carried out as a joint research project between Tokyo national
museum and Tokamachi city.
This high-precision ceramic replica was realized by harmonization of the newest technology and
traditional technique. Its height and weight is nearly same as original, feel of material is also nearly same
and even 1mm small hole at the edge of vessel is faithfully reproduced.
Ceramics has high durability, so ceramic reproductions has merit to be able to touch and also can be
exhibited outdoor. Possibilities of utilizing of cultural properties are expanding more.
