National Treasure "Sekiya Miotsukushi-zu (Tale of Genji) Holding Screen" by Tawaraya Sotatsu was reproduced on Ceramic Board

2021/12/27

Our company made a full-size (153.0cm x 356.4cm) ceramic board of "Miotsukushi-zu", one of the national treasures "Sekiya Miotsukushi-zu (Tale of Genji) Holding Screen ", and the unveiling ceremony was held at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine on December 27, 2021.

Miotsukushi-zu," painted by Tawaraya Sotatsu in 1631, is known as one of the three of Sotatsu's works to be designated as a National Treasure.
On the left side of the work, the arched bridge and the torii gate, which are considered to be the symbols of the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, are depicted as they are today.
This reproduction, which makes use of the durability of ceramics, has made it possible for the first time to install a national treasure work outdoors.

By locating it in a place where it overlooks the arched bridge, it is expected to create an environment where many people can appreciate valuable cultural properties close at hand, and to widely convey their appeal.
