JR Kanazawa Station, the Hokuriku Shinkansen: Ceramic Boards Unveiled

On Monday 9th of March 2015, there was an unveiling ceremony of ceramic boards at Kanazawa Station (Japan Railway service) on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line.
 
Renovation of JR Kanazawa Station has been promoted corresponds to the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Tokyo and Kanazawa since January 2014.
The concourse of the station between East and West Gate is arranged as a symbol load of Kanazawa along to the concept, “To utilize traditional crafts of the region to express characters of the city and Ishikawa prefecture”. The ceramic boards that titled ‘Glow of the Sun and the Moon’  produced by OHI TOSHIRO CHOZAEMON (X), who belongs to the founding family of Kanazawa Ohi Ware with 350 years of history from early Edo period are placed at the concourse.

Mr. Ohi visited our factory in Shigaraki and painted personally on the ceramic boards. The work utilized partially amber glaze which specific to Ohi Ware, and whole work expresses Kanazawa’s four seasons and stream of time.

The shinkansen line will open tomorrow.(Saturday 14th March 2015)
