2015/05/22

On Saturday of 16th May, a ceremony was held to commemorate the completion of the building “University Hall 2014” of Tamagawa University. At the first floor entrance, “The Chosen One” by Ferninand Hodler and at the fourth floor entrance, “Dispute of the Blessed Sacrament” by Raffaello Sanzio, both ceramic board reproductions were installed same time and also unveiled.

  • The Chosen One
  • Dispute of the Blessed Sacrament

“The Chosen One” installed at the first floor is a picture of hope in the future of growth like a young plant that is depicted in the center and that means first-year student who has enrolled in Tamagawa University just as “Chosen one”. On the other hand “Dispute of the Blessed Sacrament” installed at the fourth floor seems to express educational philosophy of Tamagawa University to pursue the truth and that means fourth grade student who deepen knowledge in four years and leave the nest after being completed as a person.

The ceremony was held on a grand scale and large number of people visited.

We hope both ceramic board reproductions will be popular as symbols of the building “University Hall 2014” of Tamagawa University.

“The Chosen One” is reproduced with the cooperation of the owner, Kunstmuseum, Bern (Switzerland) for taking a photograph of the original picture.
